Forgotten

Well, I guess now is a good enough time as any to bring this blog back to life! It was sort of one of those things easiest to put on the back burner while life took on us a great ride. I got so far behind that it felt overwhelming to try to catch up...ever have one of those thoughts? Anyway, you will most likely see some 'oldies but goodies' posts over the next little bit as s much has happened with our little family over the last few months! But to revive the blog, here are a few things we were up to last week!

The little town of Birmingham hosts a band in the park every Wednesday night! We went with some good friends, the Wilhelm family, sat back and enjoyed an older band re-live their glory days! They were actually very entertaining and put on a good show for us. The kids loved dancing and rolling down the hill. Jocelyn loves anything that goes in her mouth- so the free popcorn was a huge hit that kept her occupied for a while...like father like daughter!

After the band we let the kids play at the park, but the biggest hit was the turf hill they have with cardboard boxes laying all around. It took only one time of watching for Koleson to see how it was done- and off he went, bum, belly and all!

On Saturday to celebrate Pioneer Day, the stake hosts an annual BBQ at Belle Isle in downtown Detroit right off the river. It is a pretty place, and I am sure back in the day was a hot spot. It is a little run down these days and smewhat abandoned looking...but fun nonetheless. Kylin has always wanted to get into fishing, so when Koleson insisted on a fishing rod for his birthday, I found it to be the perfect opportunity to get both boys a rod and send them on their way. Thanks to our friend Tyler, he took us out before the BBQ and gave us the 101 to fishing! Koleson casted and caught three fish all by himself- then Kylin jumped in to be in the picture (or take the credit :) for the catch)! They were just little rainbow fish so we let them go but it was sure fun! I on the other hand, I couldn't catch a thing. I remember as a little kid fishing as a family and my dad would reassure us that there were many bites but they got away- I spent the day reassuring myself that I did in fact have many bites...and yes they got away...with my worm most of the time!

I don't have any pictures of the BBQ as it was a down pour for most of it as we all tried to hurry and eat under our umbrellas. All in all, it was a fun and rainy day!
